How the print queue works
The print queue is the waiting line of documents your computer has sent to the printer. Jobs normally move through it one at a time, but if a single job gets stuck, everything behind it stops too, and new jobs just pile up without printing. This is why you can send several documents and see nothing come out at all. A stalled queue often looks like a printer that is broken or offline, when really it just needs the jammed job cleared so the line can move again.
Clearing stuck jobs
Open the print queue from your printer settings or the taskbar to see the waiting documents. Cancel the job at the top that appears stuck, and if needed cancel all of them to start fresh. Sometimes a job refuses to clear because the printer and computer are out of sync; in that case, turning the printer off and restarting the computer usually releases it. Once the queue is empty and both devices are back on, try printing a single simple document to confirm the line is moving again.
Stopping it from happening again
A queue that jams repeatedly is often a sign of a shakier underlying problem. A weak or dropping Wi-Fi connection, an outdated driver, or a printer that keeps going offline can all cause jobs to stall over and over. If you find yourself clearing the queue constantly, the real fix is usually to stabilize the connection or refresh the driver rather than to keep canceling jobs. Keeping only one correct printer entry, instead of several duplicates, also cuts down on jobs being sent to the wrong place.
